The Support Group!

ImpakT's virtual and in person support group are spaces for men who have sex with men and trans/non-binary people who take part in chemsex and would like to make a positive change to their use of substances.

It’s a space where people can meet up, chat, share and learn more about chemsex and how to party and play safely! The support group are either held in English or French, but participants are welcome to share in the language of their choosing.

Support Group FAQ

  • The group run weekly on Tuesdays in the evenings at 6:00pm for a duration of 12 weeks. Sessions will last for up to two hours..

    Our next group began in February 2024. If you’d like to register your interest, please fill out the form bellow and we’ll be in touch. Furthermore, we recommend that you sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page to stay up to date with our activities.

  • The program has been created by and for people who use drugs. This support group is for you if:

    • You are a cis/ trans/queer man or any other man who has sex with men. Note that nonbinary and gender nonconforming people are welcome as well

    • You use or have used drugs such as Crystal Meth, GHB/GBL or Ketamine

    • You party and play (use drugs and alcohol during sex)

  • The topics changes every season. But here’s what you can expect:

    • Your current relationship with chems and chemsex.

    • Your goals for making a positive change with respect to your use of drugs, which can include alcohol.

    • Identifying and managing triggers and cravings.

    • Lapse management and urge surfing.

    • Surveying the challenges ahead and setting goals.

    Furthermore, the group’s topics can be found on our website and they are also announced a week in advance on our social media accounts and via our newsletter.

  • Our sessions are held in person at 2075 Plessis, Montréal (Québec) H2L 2Y4 or are offered online using Zoom video conferencing, which is free for you to use to access the group.

    You can join the sessions via video or audio and will need either a phone, smartphone, tablet or computer. The session is never recorded and your data is protected in line with our privacy policy.

    The location of the groups (online or in person) are announced at least a week in advance via our newsletter and on our social media accounts. If a group is online, the Zoom link will be sent to you via email and they are also always linked on our social media bios.

    Note: We don’t require that all participants in group have video on so. That being said it is appreciated as this will build rapport and help to support everyone in a safe environment. You don’t have to use your real name – you can use a pseudonym or nickname if you prefer. Make sure you set this on Zoom before joining the session.
